Preparing to be a Rugby Coach

Rugby is a sport that is growing in popularity ever since England won the World Cup in 2003 and reached the final again 4 years later. The teams’ performance has persuaded potential players and managers to pursue this as a career. If you are looking to become a rugby coach whether it is at league or union then you need to be aware of the dangers.First of all you need to choose between the 2 different forms of the game. Rugby League is traditionally played in the North of England and as such the Northern teams have dominated the sport. Rugby Union is traditionally played in the South and (unsurprisingly) the Southern teams dominate. However, both these sports are played nationwide with teams from both ends of the country contesting for the biggest prizes.As a rugby coach you are probably aware of the potential danger that the players face each time they step on to the pitch. This means that you, as a coach, should be fully insured in case the worse happens. You are responsible for the team when playing and training so you have to find the combination of preparing them for a game and ensuring their safety.During a training session you will look to set the players obstacles to overcome and try and teach them different skills that will give them a competitive edge during a game. Training sessions can sometimes be as brutal as the game itself with players trying to impress you to give them a game. This is where your skills as a coach come in to play as you need to hone in any aggression shown by players.Getting the necessary cover is easy as you can find it online. This cover does not just cover you against injury to one of your players but it also covers you against theft, stolen and damage to any of the equipment you use during a training session. Equipment for rugby can be very expensive so you need to ensure you take good care of it, but we all know accidents happen easily and if it does you need to have sufficient insurance to protect yourself.
